deep tissue massage

Why Choose Deep Tissue?

Not sure what type of massage is best for you? The world of massage has a long list of styles and techniques. At Elliott Therapeutics in Eden Prairie, massage therapy is highly customized to your needs. Read on to see if deep tissue is what your body needs.

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It uses firm pressure and slow strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This technique is often used to address chronic aches and pains, as well as tension and tightness in specific areas of the body.

Its therapeutic benefits are particularly beneficial for chronically tight and constricted areas such as a stiff neck, tightness of lower back and aching shoulders. However, deep tissue massage can be therapeutic for a long list of issues including:

  • Chronic or acute pains
  • Diminished mobility or limited range of motion.
  • Healing areas after traumas or injuries caused by falls, sports injuries, whiplashes from car accidents, etc.
  • Strains from repetitive motion such as the carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Pains due to incorrect posturing of the body.
  • Pains from osteoarthritis.
  • Fibromyalgia.
  • Muscle tension, contractions or spasms.

What to Expect

If you’re looking for deep tissue massage, our massage therapist, Tisha, is the right fit for you. According to Tisha, 9 out of 10 people who ask her for full strength, ask her to dial it down :)

It is always a priority for us to make your session catered to your needs and liking. Our therapists will check in with you to assess your comfort level and we highly encourage you to provide the feedback that allows you to have the perfect session for you. Want her to go stronger? Just let her know. Want her to back it off a little? Tell her.

Post-treatment soreness is always a likely scenario. Drinking water will help flush the lactic acid buildup out, thereby reducing some of the soreness. Taking an Epsom salt bath is also a great way to improve and discomfort. We recommend about 2 cups of Epsom salt to a full size tub and soak for a minimum of 20 minutes. The magnesium from the salt will penetrate your muscles, relaxing them and reducing the discomfort.
