One of the most common complaints we see is nagging, chronic neck pain. Whether it’s from poor posture at your desk, too much time on our phones, bad sleeping positions or a longstanding injury, acupuncture gets impressive results with the majority of neck pain patients.
How Does it Help?
Pain Relief: Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers. By triggering the release of these chemicals, acupuncture can help reduce the intensity of neck pain.
Muscle Relaxation: Acupuncture can help relax tight muscles in the neck and shoulders by increasing blood circulation to the area and promoting the release of tension.
Reduced Inflammation: Acupuncture has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which can help reduce inflammation in the neck tissues and alleviate pain associated with inflammation.
Improved Range of Motion: By targeting specific acupuncture points related to the neck and shoulders, acupuncture can help improve joint mobility and flexibility, allowing for better range of motion and reduced stiffness.
Stress Reduction: Stress and tension can contribute to neck pain. Acupuncture treatments promote relaxation and reduce stress levels by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which can help alleviate neck pain caused or exacerbated by stress.
Addressing Underlying Causes: Acupuncture takes a holistic approach to health, considering both the symptoms and underlying imbalances contributing to neck pain. By addressing these underlying factors, such as poor posture, muscle imbalances, or emotional stress, acupuncture can provide long-term relief from neck pain.
What to Expect?
The most important factor about using acupuncture to resolve any issue is the structure of the treatment plan. We have found that most neck pain patients get significant results in as little as 5-6 treatments. Generally speaking, the longer you’ve had the issue, the more treatments it may take. However, usually withing 10 treatments, even the majority of chronic neck pain patients have significantly improved. Your provider will evaluate your specific case and will outline a recommended treatment plan to get you the best results.
Each session will build upon the previous one. You may notice a day or two of relief after the first session and then as the treatments accumulate, the length of time of improvement extends. Usually sessions are scheduled about 3-5 days apart for the first few sessions and then spaced out weekly for the remaining sessions. In a few weeks time, you will likely not even think about your sore neck anymore!
